Twitter New ‘Lite’ Version Created for Data-Starved Users

Twitter Lite

Twitter released a new version on Wednesday named “Twitter Lite”, which largely aimed at users outside the United States who are not so easy to connect to the Twitter all the time.

Different from the previous version which only available for the stand-alone phone application, this new version is specially used via a web browser, people with sporadic connections or little data on their smartphone plans can choose to log in their Twitter accounts via the browser, and this version also claims to provide a faster connection and low data consumption on the browser.

Twitter Lite is to pick up users in harder-to-reach emerging markets, and Keith Coleman, the Twitter’s vice president of product, explained that “We didn’t feel like we were reaching these other countries well enough, and this will allow us to do it faster, cheaper and with a better experience than we’ve had before”.

Although the new version only can be used via a browser, it has the very similar functions and features like other versions of Twitter, and it also has its special highlight point: successfully connect to personal Twitter under five seconds on most 3G devices, save up to 70% on data while loading 30 percent faster.
