Recently, many School, charity and file-sharing websites were found to be caught out by scammers to “mine” the cyber-currencies, according to BBC.
After scanning the sites, many of them were found that containing the malicious mining code which could be used by the hackers to generate crypto-cash. And a security researcher also has scanned the code behind some websites, and he also find that some codes were installed and used to generate some money from their visitors. Rik Ferguson, vice-president of security research at Trend Micro, said to this issue “This is absolutely a numbers game … The more computer power that someone can amass, the more coins they can generate.”
So, maybe we should be more cautious when visiting websites online, and associated measures to protect our personal accounts and passwords are very necessary.
